Short Summary created by thomas_g  14 Jan 2022
Climbed this in early Jan 2022 using a variation of Sandman’s route (ok I missed the firebreak on the way up).
Once you are out of the woods it is extremely wet and slippery. There are amazing views to the coast from the rrig point for such a small hill.
The firebreak described below is indicated on the OSI map but the forest track to it is missing (it’s west of the most westerly track.
While it would be possible to approach this hill from other directions, it would be a long difficult slog over horrible ground. Linkback: https://new.mountainviews.ie/summit/1146/comment/15390/

A small grassy hill top with amazing views towards the sea and beyond.

Parking also available at the forest entrance W03378 40976 starA. Walk up towards the cross roads, 100m or so, then enter the mountain field on your right and follow a small duel track all the way up through the grass to the Trig point. A rectangular route was made out of the walk. Taking in a very minor peak to the SW to get the views towards the sea, The Fastnet Rock and Jeremy Irons' amazing Castle. And then a terrible descent. Razor brambles, death walls, barbed wire and tall tussocky grass that was deep, wet and fall-over prone. Not recommended. But if in need of some type of penance then go for it. Arriving almost directly across from your parked car. Linkback: https://new.mountainviews.ie/summit/1146/comment/24576/

Access via the forest entrance located W0446541536 starB follow the forest road a few hundred meters until you reach a well defined firebreak follow same and as you begin to reach the summit ridge be observant and you will see the outline of vehicle tracts leading towards the summit, crossing the fence where appropriate follow the tracts to old turf cuttings which will leave you a short hop to the summit.
